COGNITIVE AND BEHAVIORAL ECOLOGY LAB

Our field site

Sagehen Experimental Forest, Tahoe National Forest, Sagehen Creek Field Station , California

Our long-term study site is in Sagen Experimental Forest, located in Tahoe National Forest, northern California, north of Truckee. We work along an elevation gradient from ca. 6500 to 8400 ft.

There is a SNOTEL weather station  (Independence Lake, 8352 feet elevation) in the middle of our high elevation study site that provides detailed weather data. For lower elevations weather data we use three SNOTEL weather stations: Independence Camp (7003 feet elevation),  Independence Creek  (6456 feet elevation) and Truckee (6509 feet elevation).
Link to the live webcam (fire cameras) from the top of our high elevation site.
